Ireland -- 42-year-old former British world boxing champion Steve Collins told a court in November how he had used a 'martial arts self defence manoeuvre', according to rte.ie.
Collins claimed he used the technique on a doorman at the National Boxing Stadium in Dublin in June 2006 after after being refused entry through a VIP entrance. He also claimed he did not punch the man.
Mr Collins told the jury he 'knew what he was talking about' when it came to the issue of self-defense. He said he had been taught by a 'California martial arts expert' and that he used a special technique to break the doorman's grip.

Firefighters Fighting
In Ireland, firefighters were forced to turn a water hose on a 24-year-old man after he went at them wielding a samurai sword.
It was around 2 a.m. that firefighters were called to a car fire in Dundalk, County Louth. It was feared the fire should spread to a nearby house.
As two of the firemen were putting on breathing apparatus, a sword-wielding man ran towards them. A colleague then turned a water hose on the attacker knocking him to the ground.
Two experienced firefighters reportedly had to leave work suffering shock after the incident.

Skunk Fu
This sounds like great fun :-) Apart from the rap "music", that is.
Story:
An Irish cartoon which has taken the animation world by storm is finally set to hit British television screens this month.
Skunk is a Western kid learning kung fu from a wise old panda in China, so that he can help the resistance fight against the evil black dragon and his army of ninja monkeys.
He is brave but impetuous, he must learn to master kung fu and his temper if he is to defeat the dragon. This leads to many action-packed and hilarious adventures.
The series also has a theme tune written and performed by the notorious Ghost Face Killa of the Wu Tang Clan to gel with the hip-hop kung fu flavour of the series.

Sumo Collin
Colin Carroll will be representing Ireland in the next Sumo Wrestling World Championships. This isn’t the first time this crazy Irishman has represented his country in a rather niche sport. In fact he is a member of the country’s only world championship team…the Irish Elephant Polo team.
Styled as Ireland’s answer to Eric The Eagle, Colin is trying to raise 10 grand to compete.
