UK -- A 39-year-old teacher, former soldier and karate expert, accused of racial and religious intolerance was among bodyguards protecting (right wing) British National Party leader Nick Griffin recently, according to sunderlandecho.com.
The man reportedly resigned from a sports college in 2008 after an investigation into alleged misuse of a school computer. It is claimed he used the computer to post critical comments about asylum seekers, Islam, immigrants and homosexuality on an Internet chat forum during lessons.

Police Laud Martial Artist
From Pennsylvania, altoonamirror.com had a nice feature story back in mid August about 45-year-old martial arts expert and bodyguard Brian Gates who stopped two copper thieves, aged 24 and 27, dead in their tracks on April 10, 2008.
Mr Gates, who operates a martial arts studio in Patton, has also gained attention as a bodyguard for the Knievel stunt family and film and country music stars.

Good vs Bad Jujitsu Moves
Russia -- Themoscowtimes.com reports about Anna Loginova, a 29-year-old former model turned bodyguard.
The woman - by some called the most glamorous bodyguard in Russia - was tragically killed when she tried to stop a carjacker taking off in her Porsche Cayenne sports car in Moscow.
According to reports, she was instantly killed Sunday when she smashed her head against the pavement while holding on to the door handle as the carjacker sped off.
The same car had allegedly been targeted once before, something which might help explain the woman's attempt to fight back.
The former model told about the first incident in an interview with a Russian magazine, 'Maxim'.
"I used a jujitsu technique," she said. "I twisted his arm and elbowed him in the face. The guy obviously was not expecting such a reaction."
Well, I would say the first was a good move, while the second one - attempting to hold on to a speeding car - obviously was a very bad one.

Pakistance
Ah yes, the deadly karate stance (Think Inspector Clouseau here) ...
Story:
A would-be thief probably thought his intended victim would cower in terror when he produced a knife with a 12-inch blade and started barking orders.
But the 39-year-old was unmoved. His service in Pakistan's security police - including training in hand-to-hand combat and tackling terrorists - had prepared him well for just such a situation.
The newsagent - who served as a bodyguard to the prime minister of Pakistan - was cashing up just before 9 p.m. on Sunday when the armed robber walked in.
He said: "This man came in and pulled out a knife, which was around a foot long. He pointed it towards me and told me to give him all my money.
"There was £500 in the till and there was no way I was giving him anything. I stood out from behind my counter and took up a karate stance as I had learned with the army."

Art vs. sport
Philkip Scudieri draws a distinction between the Budo experience and sport.
"It is our goal to find unity through body, mind and spirit," he said. "Our people have won trophies but we focus on inherent qualities."
Scudieri started studying the martial arts in 1971 after suffering a back injury. He had been working as a musician in Washington and was interested in self defense.
"When you're coming out of a night club at 3 o'clock in the morning, and you've got money in your pocket and $20,000 worth of band equipment, it's good to know how to defend yourself," he said.
Before he became an instructor, Scudieri worked for several years as a bodyguard at concerts for acts such as Little Feat, Patty Smith, and the late Root Boy Slim.
The job often required him to figure out whether rowdy music fans were trying to get on stage for a photo-op or to harm the musicians.
"My martial arts training really helped in being able to determine people's intentions," he said. "Ninty-eight percent of the time the people just wanted to have fun. When I worked, nobody got hurt."

Karateka shot, dies
Nepal -- Rakesh Gurung, 19, a karate player, who entered into a brawl with a body guard of general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal in Kathmandu Tuesday evening died in a shoot out.
Gurung along with one other person, who were on a motorbike had stopped a jeep driven by Govinda Upreti. Assistant Police Sub Inspector Man Bahadur Adhikari was in the jeep. They were returning to a barrack after reaching the general secretary home.
The motorbike had intercepted the jeep. Gurung and his friend had opened the door of the jeep and manhandled Adhikari and the driver, police said.
Gurung reportedly charged Upreti with a knife following a squable injuring him on the side of his ear, police said.
Police said that Adhikari reached out for his pistol on receiving death threats from Gurung who had a knife in his hand.
Adhikari fired two shots. Gurung was then rushed to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Although police have claimed that Adhikari had fired at Gurung in self-defence, different organisations-most of them related with sports, have accused that the incident has been given a twist and the truth hidden.
They have accused the police of taking the life of a renowned karate player over a trifle matter.

Supernanny wanted
Are you a female martial artist and looking for a job? Maybe this would be of interest.
And if you do get the post, could you pleas ask these people why celebrities have to give all sorts of weird names for their kids? Suri... why not Surreal?
Story:
Tom Cruise wants a nanny who's packing more than Pampers in her diaper bag — and can kick bad-guy butt, says an insider. "Tom is very security-conscious, and he'd like to hire a woman who could protect little Suri — not just change her, feed her and sing 'Itsy-Bitsy Spider,'" said the source.
Tom wants a Charlie's Angel-type who has martial arts skills and shooting expertise — but Mama Katie thinks hiring a Super-Nanny would be way over the top, since they already have top-notch security guards.
