One more missing expert
A man arrested over the £53 million Securitas heist has vanished from his home - breaking one of his bail conditions.
Martial arts expert Sean Lupton was arrested on November 9 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with Britain's biggest robbery at the Securitas depot in Tonbridge on February 21.
But he was released on bail the following day.
The 46-year-old from Whitstable, who is married with two teenage children, was last seen at kick boxing training in Folkestone, on Tuesday (last week).
Kent Police believe the martial arts instructor then disappeared on his way to a gym in Crawley, West Sussex.

Courthouse attack
He couldn't have chosen a worse time to leap out of the Nelson District Court dock and attempt to stab a judge with a pen.
Within seconds, he was pinned down by two police officers, and he was soon back in court facing numerous other charges.
Two of the officers responsible for stopping the attack on May 9 - temporary constable Doug Spencer and Sergeant Wayne Johnston - were on Wednesday awarded the district commander's commendation for their actions.
Mr Spencer, who was a black belt instructor in taekwondo, trained in two other martial arts and has done cage fighting, was preparing to lead the 24-year-old man out of the courtroom after Judge Geoffrey Ellis had granted him bail.

The man said to be the architect' of the robbery that led to the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky is hiding in a remote village in Pakistan, it is claimed.
Prime suspect Piran Ditta Khan, who is one of two men still being hunted by police for the officer's killing, is said to be living in Kiri Afghanan in the Jhelum district of the north of the country, according to the robbery victims.
He is reported to have turned to religion, grown a beard and is helping to rebuild a mosque.
Khan is reported to be a martial arts expert who enjoyed kick boxing and worked as a doorman in clubs in Bradford during the 1980s.

Could someone enlighten me as to what this "Class X" is all about? Must really be something special to make this "mad boember" an x-pert!

India -- A month before the Republic Day, the Delhi Police has arrested three alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba militants. Police said the three hail from Manipur and had come to Delhi with the intentions of carrying out bomb blasts in the market areas here.
Karnal Singh, Joint Commissioner (Special Cell), said it's the first time that the police have arrested Lashkar militants hailing from Manipur.
Of the three men arrested today, 23-year-old Salman Khurshid is the most important, said police. Khurshid was a resident of Imphal and had studied up to Class X. An expert in karate, police said.

Though the previous "Ninja Turtles" movies were live- action, with martial-arts experts sporting giant rubber suits to play the main characters, the new movie takes them back to their cartoon roots with computerized effects.

As doctor-patient confrontations become more violent and bloodier, these doctors and nurses hope that being better physically prepared can help them protect themselves if necessary.
Among these people, those most in need of such training are probably the obstetrics staff, probably the most understaffed, overworked, and most vulnerable to litigation.

Parents speak
Florida -- For the first time, Eyewitness News is hearing from the parents of children allegedly molested by a Kissimmee karate instructor.
The mother of one of the man's alleged victims said she's worried about her daughter's safety now that he could get out of jail.
“She was relieved he was in jail. She is terrified he is going to get out at anytime," she said.
Last week, a judge set the man's bond at $257,000. He's charged with more than 200 counts of child molestation for allegedly molesting several of his students at the Tiger's Den Karate Studio in Kissimmee.

UK -- A police worker fighting for life after being stabbed in the neck joined the force “to do something worthwhile”, his wife said yesterday.
She told how husband Gary quit his theatre boss job to become a police community support officer.
Gary Etchells, 47, who had no power to arrest, was knifed while helping evict a former karate teacher from his rented home. The tenant is regarded locally as an eccentric and a loner.
The dad-of-four had emergency surgery and was said to be critical but improving last night.

Scotland -- A politician who has campaigned to reduce knife crime in Scotland helped tackle a blade-wielding suspect in a city bar last night.
North East Tory MSP Alex Johnstone called the police after spotting a man carrying a knife with a nine-inch blade in his back pocket in The Tun on Holyrood Road.
The MSP and his Musselburgh-based parliamentary adviser Jim Millar raced out of the pub after the man.
Mr Millar, 39, says that he was confident enough to follow the man because he is professionally trained in martial arts and how to deal with knife carriers.

A sting operation
One of the three local men arrested in the Flagler Beach sex sting filmed by "Dateline NBC" teaches children tae kwon do at a South Daytona martial arts school, police said.
The 31-year-old man believed his female decoy "Amber" was only 13 years old, investigators said.
But that didn't stop the South Daytona man from sending "Amber" adult videos and sexually explicit photos of himself and traveling to Flagler Beach on December 8 to meet her, they said.

World heritage sites
China -- Some of China's world heritage sites are poorly managed, China's Minister of Culture Sun Jiazheng admitted at a recent conference.
At the national conference on world heritage protection, Sun said some local governments that make applications for world heritage status are aimed purely at tourism and economy development.
A number of accidents have been reported at heritage sites in China in recent years. Wudang Mountain in central China's Hubei Province, declared a World Heritage site in 1994, saw its 600-year-old Yuzhengong Palace burn to ashes in 2003 in a fire caused by a careless employee of a martial arts school.

Positive Pride doping tests
Pride mixed martial arts fighters Vitor Belfort and Pawel Nastula have been suspended for nine months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for positive drug tests.
Belfort was also fined US$10,000 while Nastula was fined $6,500, commission executive director Keith Kizer said Thursday. Belfort tested positive for 4-Hydroxytestosterone while Nastula's test showed for Nandrolone, pseudoephedrine, ephedrine and phenylpropanolamine.
Both fighters were tested after Japanese-based Pride's debut show in the U.S., held Oct. 21 in Las Vegas.

Weapon haul
A Belgian tourist travelling from the Philippines has been caught with 17 martial-arts related weapons during a routine baggage check at Melbourne airport.
A customs officer found the items in 33-year-old's luggage yesterday morning. The haul was made up of seven nuchukus, four extendable batons and six knuckledusters painted in an army camouflage pattern.
Spokesman for Customs Matt Wardell said: "He didn't present them to customs officers when he was asked ... It is a serious offence because there is the potential for these weapons to make their way into the community, where they could be used in the commission of crimes."

One (empty) hand
Visakhapatnam, India -- Watching the 12-year-old Nadipalli Akshita practice various Karate steps with the ease of any national Champion is a sight that hardly anyone would like to give a miss. But for this single-handed teenaged girl, it's just another day of life devoted to martial arts.
Akshita, during the last six-year association with the awe-inspiring game, requiring an extremely tough practice routine, has vanquished hundreds of opponents in various bouts. She has won her matches despite being a one-handed player.

Getting closer ...
I told you so ... It will not be long before the first Diaper-Dan™ black belt arrives! Cute? Yes. Karate? No. And seriously - how often do you hear parents that are not proud of the little one?

Canada -- A little girl has earned a karate belt -- at the age of two. Mollie James got the red belt by proving she could do a front kick, a punch, two turns and four defensive blocks.
Her parents Deborah and Simon are both black belts and full-time karate instructors. They bought Mollie and her sister, Kinsie, karate outfits on the day they were born. Deborah, from Havant, Hants, told the London Sun: "We are very proud of her."

VanderBrink has retina problems as a result of being born three months premature. Cataracts complicated the matter. She already is legally blind and if she were to receive a hit in the head, she might go completely blind. Parents worry about things like that.
The martial arts club has never had a member with a disability before. While contemplating the idea, revelation struck VanderBrink. "My logic is I'm going to lose (my vision) anyway," she said. "I might as well enjoy it while I got it."
She signed up.

Too much to handle
Fourteen years of martial arts training came in handy last Friday for Chuck Meese of Dover.
Meese, 32, is a second-degree black belt and an instructor at Karam’s Martial Arts in Dover. He was practicing some techniques with student Bob Neidenthal of Strasburg when he learned a man was seen breaking into cars in the school’s parking lot.
Meese said a woman had come into the school to buy some martial arts supplies. She left but came right back in and reported what she had seen. She said the man tried to sell her drugs and she refused. Meese said he and Neidenthal – dressed in their karate gear – went outside to investigate.

Dangerous ...
Dangerous? What's next - someone who can kill, simply by talking about dental floss? I would argue that being "an accomplished martial arts practitioner" is not the same as being dangerous (dangerously stupid, maybe...).
You may however become a dangerous individual, by turning into a religious fanatic - and yes, any religion will do just fine.
