Expert Sure

Could it possibly, just possibly be that this man is in a tight spot simply because he's an idiot, not because he happens to be African-American?

Oh, and of course a sub-heading of this piece from wlwt.com says "Martial arts expert charged with courthouse knife"...

I wonder if this expert thing is contagious? "What is that you got - the flu?" "No - I walked into this place, and now I've got myself an expert status!"

Civil rights activists complained Thursday that an African-American man is a victim of a legal double standard.

The man was arrested earlier this month after he refused to hand over a knife as he went through courthouse security, authorities said.

The man, who practices martial arts, was due to appear in Hamilton County Court September 14 on a traffic citation when he pushed a duffle bag through a security X-ray scan.

Inside was a three-inch knife the man said he used in his martial-arts studies and had forgotten to take out of the bag.

Officers said they removed the T-shaped knife and confiscated it, and police said the man questioned the officers, became belligerent and lashed out at a Sheriff's deputy.

A judge raised bond after he said the man became uncooperative during his arraignment and refused to give his name, and another judge declined to reduce the amount during a Thursday hearing.
