UK -- Police negotiators talked a man from a house in Exminster after he had allegedly threatened to stab a woman with a sword, thisisexeter.co.uk reports.
The woman fled the premises with her children before calling police.
The man then locked himself in the property and told police he had consumed medication and had also been drinking.
Three matching ornamental Japanese style swords in red scabbards, a fishing knife in a scabbard, and two small folding pocket knives were seized from the address.
