Finland -- A District Court in the Finnish capitol Helsinki has handed down sentences to one young man and three young women in connection with the mass brawl which occurred at an amusement park in June 2010.
The man - said to be a martial arts expert who has competed at national level - received a 50-day suspended prison term after he was found guilty on three charges of assault, according to hs.fi.
The brawl escalated into a mass fight, and it apparently began with some queue-jumping on one of the rides at the amusement park.

A Neo-Fascist MMA Fighter
Poland -- An alleged neo-fascist MMA fighter from Finland was reportedly allowed to fight in Lodz, Poland and show off his Nazi tattoos, according to thenews.pl.
In a statement to Polish radio, Marcin Kornak from "Never Again" - an association which fights against racism, xenophobia and intolerance - said "It’s a scandal that a neo-Nazi was allowed to participate in the show."

Finnish sentence
Finland -- Taekwondo instructor Sami Olavi Greus was sentenced in Oulu District Court to four years and three months imprisonment for sex crimes targeting young girls.
The 33-year-old Greus was accused of nearly 800 illegal acts with minors. The court rejected only two of the 22 counts in the indictment.
The acts in question took place between 1997 and 2005 in different parts of the north of Finland. All of the victims practiced martial arts. Some of the girls were aged 14 and 15, but most were aged 16 and 17 when the molestation took place.
The modus operandi was the same with nearly all of the victims. He would first praise their skills and appearance during taekwondo practice, he would drive them to the training sessions himself, and finally he would contact them either by telephone or e-mail, asking the girls to visit him at his home after the lessons.

Finnish trials
Oh, so it's "normal dating" to have relationships with young female pupils - and in great numbers even? I see.
And then we ask ourselves why many women and girls shy away from the martial arts...

One of Finland’s most extensive sex crime trials began behind closed doors in Oulu district Court on Monday. The prosecution is calling for prison sentences for a 33-year-old martial arts coach. He stands accused of the sexual abuse of a large number of girls who took Taekwondo lessons from him. The indictment contains 22 counts, and a total of 799 individual acts of molestation.
The alleged crimes took place between 1997 and 2005 in different parts of the north of Finland.
The trial is being held behind closed doors in order to protect the identity of he girls in question.
The coach himself has denied committing any crimes. He says that the relationships with his pupils involved normal dating, and that no coercion was involved.
The defendant also faces charges of financial crimes involving hundreds of thousands of euros.

Horrible case in Finland
This seems to be growing into a truly disgusting case.
Like we reported on May 3 ('Taekwondo teacher remanded') , a well known Finnish taekwondo coach was under suspicion in what is alledged to be a massive sexual abuse case.
The taekwondo coach in Uleaaborg, Finland has now been charged with 799 (!) cases of sexual abuse.
According to the newspaper Politiken, the charges involve rape and attempted rape towards female students of taekwondo in the northern part of Finland.
Most of the victims are 16 or 17 of age, but some was reportedly younger. The sexual abuse cases occurred between 1997 and 2005 in several parts of the country.

Looks like (kung) fun
Kick Ass Kung Fu is a new game that puts you right into the fighting action. A camera records your punches and kicks and the rest of your moves, then puts them right onto the giant screen.

Taekwondo teacher remanded
Finland -- Police in the northern city of Oulu are investigating what they believe to be an exceptionally extensive case of repeated child molestation involving numerous victims.
The suspect is a 32-year-old Oulu man, who is a renowned teacher of the martial art taekwondo.
He has been remanded in custody since late January on suspicion of several counts of molestation, and the investigation is expected to be completed soon.
Police are not releasing information in the case, because they want to protect the victims.
