Incompetent Ninja Sidekick

You definitely want a competent ninja to be your partner in crime if you want to get away with acting as a volunteer firefighter and arsonist at one and the same time ... without being caught that is.

This duo apparently had a criminal scheme going, "so dumb only a Philly boy could think it out." Here's the story from gawker.com

Son of Rebel Leader in Trouble

U.S. Army in Liberia - Illustration photo
It appears both father and son have some issues that needs to be taken care of.

The father is a former rebel leader who is awaiting for deportation from USA to Liberia where the 62-year-old man will answer for alleged war crime charges there.

Buffalonews.com reports from Niagara Falls in New York.
The son of a former Liberian rebel leader refused a plea offer to two felonies in a domestic violence case Friday in Niagara County Court.
Mahnseah T. Boley, 32, of Hilton, decided not to plead guilty to sexual abuse and assault charges, Assistant District Attorney Lisa M. Baehre said.
Boley, a former college wrestling champion and professional mixed martial arts fighter, is the son of George E.S. Boley, who earlier this month was ordered sent back to Liberia to stand trial on war crimes charges.
Like father, like son? It may appear to be that way.

MMA Fighter Beat Mugger

Illinois -- You got to be pretty brave, or daft (take your pick) trying to rob a skilled MMA fighter. To prove the point, just take a look at the mugshot below.

Inquisitr.com reported about how a convicted felon, attempted to hold up a vehicle in Chicago by asking the driver for a light, and when the drive said he didn't have one the criminal reportedly pulled a handgun on the victim and demanded money.

The driver obliged and handed over all of his cash but was then told to get out of the car. However, when  the 24-year-old robber lost his focus the victim secured a hold of the weapon, something which caused the criminal to shoot himself in the foot.

The MMA fighter then pinned the robber to the ground and beat him to a pulp until police came to the scene and arrested the criminal. He was then taken to hospital for treatment.

Robber Picks Wrong Hotel

California -- Below is a surveillance video from a hotel in Los Angeles. It shows a 31-year-old would-be robber being taken down and held by two MMA fighters from Eugene, Oregon.

The two Good Samaritans were guests at the hotel and had been to a martial arts tournament in the city when they came out of the lift and encountered the robbery in progress.

They both sprang into action when they heard the clerk's cry for help. After a few moments of tussle, they were able to take the gun-wielding robber to the floor. The robber was held there until police arrived.

The two MMA fighters reportedly received lots of well deserved praise from police. Kudos to you guys!

Judo Instructor Guilty

Even though a staggering number of complaints have emerged for years regarding dangerous teaching activities in Japanese school judo - nothing has apparently come out of it ... until now. Here's an article from google.com (feel free to comment below):

Japan -- A Japanese court on Wednesday found a martial arts instructor guilty over the death of a six-year-old boy, a court official said, in the first criminal case over judo training in Japan.

The Osaka District Court found the instructor guilty of causing the boy's death by repeatedly slamming him to the floor during training, ordering the defendant to pay a fine of one million yen ($13,000), the official said.

It is the first criminal case filed by Japanese prosecutors against judo trainers, according to a victims' group, despite over 100 child deaths blamed on harsh training or hazing between 1983 and 2010.

----

Have your say about these judo related injuries and deaths in the comment field below. It appears this has to do mainly with inexperienced instructors and teachers. What's your point of view?

Officials recently found the accused in Roseville, California. The man was reportedly running a martial arts school there too, according to officials.

Money Laundering

Oregon -- West Linn resident and MMA fighter Chael Sonnen has been known for a number of things - a real estate business (he's a licensed Realtor), his UFC fighting career, his aggressive, flamboyant and some times quite entertaining Twitter tweets, suspected drug use, and also for being a Republican with what appeared to be political ambitions.

Now, the outspoken MMA fighter has added another "achievement" to his name, the criminal activity of money laundering.

According to westlinntidings.com, Sonnen recently admitted that a financial transaction he conducted was designed to conceal control of the proceeds when a title company paid a plumbing company for repairs, even though he knew repairs wouldn't be completed. The plumbing company was paid and gave the homebuyer most of it, and Sonnen made commission off the faulty real estate transaction.

Cop-Fu

China -- 48-year-old Mir Zhang, a Chinese police officer in the Hei Longjiang province, has studied kung fu techniques rigorously for more than 20 years, according to metro.co.uk. These studies has allegedly left him invulnerable to pain and injury.

In any case, he does seem to take a lot of it, and it may seem like criminals and thugs on his shift had better think twice.

Below, you can see him shrugging off bricks smashed on his skull with a sledgehammer. Other feats include a steel spear being forced into his throat and breaking heavy stoneware pots to pieces with his head.

Martial Arts Enthusiast

Connecticut -- A man attempted to steal money from a downtown Stamford bar on September 26, according to thestamfordtimes.com and now police says the man "may be a martial arts enthusiast."

First and foremost, whenever a term like "martial arts enthusiast" is used in settings like these, it tends to indicate a full blown Martial Arts Maniac.

And what is it that told police they may be dealing with such an individual in the first place? The fact that the suspect laid in wait while the receipts were being compiled by the manager - in other word a sneaky ninja? Or was it perhaps his athletic build which gave him away?

Did he flash on of them totally awesome and deadly dumchucks, or go into a kung fu stance? Did he flash a couple equally impressive fast and furious judo chops; perhaps uttering the all time classic: "I know karate!" (pronounced 'krotty')? No?

Then what? This is so confusing...

Russian MMA Nutcase

Guys, guys... Come on... A criminal, probably insane, and definitely a right-wing nutcase by any standard. But still, let us welcome him with open arms, a big hug and an even bigger bottle of vodka. We are all so cozy and friendly over here; we like to see the good things in people, you know...

Story:
Norway -- A Russian MMA champ, known as Tarzan the Redhead, who fled a psychiatric facility in St. Petersburg has been held in Oslo after applying for asylum, according to themoscowtimes.com.

Police officials said the man was detained on suspicion of violating the country's law on gun ownership and having possible links to organized crime.

A YouTube video shows the 30-year-old man entering a Norwegian immigration office (and yes, that is Russian and Norwegian being spoken).

In the video you can see how "Tarzan", wearing a sweatshirt with Nazi insignia, says, "Sieg heil," as he raises his arm in a Nazi salute before entering the office.

The fighter tells a female immigration official that he arrived in the country by boat and gives her the pistol and his driver's license. He also asks her to search his name in Google.

Dmitry Dyomushkin, who is a friend of the man and the leader of the banned ultranationalist Slavic Union, said "I wished him all the best and told him not to act like a nutcase."

...which apparently didn't help much I might be tempted to add.

The heavyweight MMA champion was found guilty in 2009 of carrying out several robberies. However, he was sent to a criminal psychiatric hospital after an examination which deemed him insane.
