Florida -- A former Newberry martial arts business owner and leader of a charismatic Alachua County commune was sentenced to 75 years in prison Friday for sex crimes against a young girl.
A jury deliberated about an hour Friday before finding the 60-year-old man guilty of two counts of molesting a child, two counts of sexual battery on a child and one count of exposing a minor to obscene materials.
The victim was 11 years old and living at the man's spiritual commune in northwestern Alachua County when the abuse began. The girl reportedly kept the abuse to herself until about a year after her family moved out of the commune.
