The son of a real estate developer is in jail Friday, accused of using the martial art of jiu-jitsu to attack his girlfriend.
According to media reports, the brutal assault has shocked prosecutors and police.
The 22-year-old man from a north Chicago suburb, now attending Kansas University, is being charged with brutally beating his girlfriend in her Lawrence, Kansas, home.
Police and prosecutors say the woman's injuries are "extraordinarily terrible" and that she faces multiple surgeries. They also say the suspect used his "Brazilian jiu-jitsu" training in the attack.
