Taekwondo Assault

Cyprus -- A 26-year-old martial arts taekwondo "expert" was recently found guilty of assaulting a Nicosia traffic warden and causing actual bodily harm in August 2008.

The incident took place when the 26-year-old man -- reportedly a taekwondo champion -- parked his car in a handicapped spot, according to cyprus-mail.com.

As the warden issued a fine and placed it on defendants' car's windshield the car owner returned to the scene. Upon seeing the traffic warden he began shouting and swearing at him, even though the warden pointed out he had been illegally parked.

When the traffic warden demanded to know the 26-year-old's details to report him to police for the verbal assault, the defendant pushed him causing the traffic warden to fall to the ground.

As the defendant got in his car and made to leave, the traffic warden put out his hand to stop him and cracked the vehicle's windshield. This enraged the martial arts expert who then got out of the car, kicked and grabbed the traffic warden by the neck bringing him to his knees and unable to breathe.

Thanks to the intervention of eyewitnesses the defendant was pulled off his victim.
